"It's just another Manic Monday..."

"Whoa…Whoa…"
Today I’ve got the Monday morning blues.
Husband at work.
Kids at school.
Me at home left to clean up after the weekend.
I don’t know what happens in our home every Sunday night
from about 6:00 pm till bedtime.
For some reason our house gets trashed.
Please tell me you know what I am talking about?
Blankets and pillows, markers, crayons and toys everywhere…
Church shoes, church bag and scriptures thrown about…the pan of picked-over brownies still on the stove…the Sunday newspaper laid out all over the counter
…crumbs on the floor…
I could go on.
I would post pictures, but I am not that self-confident.
I think the problem is my family realizes Sunday night is the last bit of weekend R&R they have until facing that Monday morning alarm clock.
So they let it all hang out.
And I hate to be the party pooper and make everyone hop to it.
Yesterday I was anticipating this usual phenomenon.
So I intervened.
I decided to get us all out of the house so things would stay clean.
We took a drive to Utah Lake.


Oh things started out innocent enough.

"mom, can I get my feet wet?"




















...."ok...but just your feet"

Wade started the ol "I can skip a rock farther than you game"






















Then Lauren started taunting Brett that he was too chicken to get in the water.
Well, you can guess what happened next...

Brett had stripped down and jumped in to the mirky water before I could get my camera ready




















And not to be out done by his son...Dean jumped in.

followed by Wade, then Lauren, River and Kal.

but NOT followed by me.
So here I sit Monday morning with the usual Monday mess to clean up but also with a bonus of three loads of wet, smelly laundry and a trashed bathroom.
My plan backfired.
